andreamarie
I am shooting my cousin's wedding late October in Fort Bragg, CA, on the Mendocino Coast Line. I live in Virginia and have never been to this area of CA before! I know the coast is beautiful and there are beautiful trees in this area also. Does anyone have a favorite beach that they like to go to here? A beautiful grove of trees? Are there vineyards nearby? Cool locations in town? I think they're also taking me to Ukiah. The couple is doing their own research on the area, but I was just wondering if there were any photographers on Photo.net that have shot there before and could give me some tips and locations to check out! Thanks!

toddcwilson
Ft. Bragg in CA? What? I thought Ft. Bragg was in NC. Forgive me, I'm retired Army and have jumped out of an airplane on many occasion. Please, correct my geography if I am incorrect.
scot
It's a town, not an actual fort... scot
KenPapai
Fort Bragg, CA has been there a long time. It's an old fishing and one-time lumber town. I love it there. California also has a Newark, Brisbane, Pittsburg, and a Pleasanton. I think sunsets where the river goes out to the ocean would make a great backdrop. There are excellent redwood trees all along Hwy 128 and a statre park near Fort Bragg. Also hendy Redwoods state park on Hwy 128 near Boonville and Navarro with groves. In fact I could go on and on and throw in Montgomery Redwoods state reserve -- no one will bother you there and many options inside Montgomery on Orrs Springs Road between Ukiah and Boonville. http://www.kenpapai.com/nature/mont.redwoods.html and http://www.photo.net/photo/4169520&size=lg
KenPapai
there is a cathedral like atmosphere at Montgomery Redwoods, witness: http://www.photo.net/photo/1171335&size=lg You can't go wrong there, just a very windy road in hills to get there. daniellane
I would suggest Pudding Creek. I think it's just after Ft. Bragg There's a very nice section of beach there.

Photos 2-7 of this set were taken there. Even if you shoot the bridal there, it's worth a day trip.
