chelsie_roy
I have what appears to be a MX-EVS from my research. It comes with a Heidosmatviewing lens and a Zeiss taking lens. I can't change the shutter speedindependently of the f.stop, so my question is can these ever be uncoupled? Iwouldn't have purchased it (even though it's in beautiful condition) had Irealized it lacked the button to release coupling, but if there's a way touncouple them I'll get on that immediately. Any help? Or maybe if the camera isn't an MX-EVS then I could get somesuggestions on what it truly is? the serial number is a 143XXXX. Thanks in advance. toner
According to Ian Parker's <i>Complete Rollei TLR Collector's Guide</i>, a serial number of 143XXXX would make it a Type 1 MX-EVS. "To disengage EVS hold down inner button of the aperture wheel with EV numbers."
mario_mazariegos
Hello let me try to help here, what you do is take the camera in a pic taking position in front of you and take your thumb put it over either the speed button or aperture button (where there is an 8 like figure) and you turn it in a screw like motion so then you will feel a soft click, then the speed and aperture become independent. Hope this helps and take care! Enjoy a great camera. Bye.
toner
Mario, That is how it works on a Type 2 (serial number 1479XXX & up). At least according to Parker. Me, I'll stick with the pre-EVS versions :-)
patric_dahl_n
You press down the button on the aperture wheel, the one *without* the EV-numbers to change the aperture/speed independently. It's on the left when you hold the camera in shooting position. Here's the instruction manual: http://www.urmonas.net/manuals/rollei-mxevs/rollei-mxevs.html
chelsie_roy
Except as I stated previously, there is no knob in the center of the two wheels. When I turn the aperture dial, a little arrow in the center of the shutter speed dial rotates around to different numbers, and the shutter speed dial doesn't want to seem to move. This is what makes me assume the two are coupled. I've read somewhere that before the models with the button in the center of the aperture dial there was a model that had no button, and I'm guessing that's what mine is.. chelsie_roy
And I have an actual printed copy of that manual, so thank you for that, but it also says to press down the button and there is absolutely no button on the aperture wheel. toner
Found this: "Actually there is yet a third model (I have one) which probably predates the model 1 and is not documented in either Evans' or Parkers' books. The EVS coupling is always engaged (the center button does not depress), but the coupling is engaged by a slipping clutch so that if you hold one of the dials (or get to one of the ends) the two dials can be moved independently." at http://homepage.mac.com/fwstutterheim/rugarchives/1999-03/00399.html
