The dissapointingly adequate Mikai EL

I'm not always sure what we expect from these old cheap cameras. I use Holgas and pinholes and other alternative camera techniques, and, within that context, I like the photos that camera produces. The first of the mailbox and the last of the old truck are particularly nice, keeping in mind where I'm coming from on this.

I guess that I don't agree with the idea that we use an old simple camera and try to get a stunningly sharp photo. I'm looking for a soft image of a sharp concept that has some emotional feeling.

Todd, that's poetry! That is exactly why I picked up a yashica some time ago. Boy was I upset when the pics came out stunningly sharp and contrasty.

BTW, I'd like your permission to use that quote as my personal motto.

Sailboat mode is very interesting... but im curious how one switches from overcast mode to lightning storm mode? Its probably a good thing they kept Lightning storm mode away from sailboat mode... thats a deadly combination. Im curious as to if it also features a "Leica type" film advance and "Leica type" 35mm film cassettes... if so it MIGHT be worth some serious money.

Yes Gene, these are not as bad as they should be judging from the appearance of the camera... you really should ask for your money back!
