mark_buchfuhrer
I know that this has been asked before but it has been a few months and I want to check if there are some new updated opinions. I am new to Lightroom (just bought it after nearing the end of my trial period) but having been using PS for several years. Even after playing with it and using some of the short available web tutorials, I still need help to use the advanced features and some of the more basic ones. I am more interested in a book that I can easily keep referencing rather than a DVD or sites like Lynda.com.
mike_stemberg
I can't recommend you a book ..but in the meantime there is the very useful:
Adobe Lightroom News.
Martin Evening is the editor and knows a thing or two... scottl1
Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book for Digital Photographers,The (Voices That Matter) by Scott Kelby is pretty good.
patricklavoie
One of the best book you can buy; Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book, The Complete Guide for Photographers by Martin Evening. even better than a book? www.lynda.com 25$/month to learn almost everything from word to photoshop. Litghroom tutorial is around 6hrs. well done, easy to follow, full coverage.
digitaldog
Drop the $15 or so and get the Luminous Landscape video's (download) with Schewe and Reichmann. Then Martin's book. Author “Color Management for Photographers" & "Photoshop CC Color Management" (pluralsight.com)
michael_brant
Most or all of the books currently available are for version 1.0 of Lightroom. Version 1.1 added some new functionality. Martin Evening put out a PDF with updates, I'm not sure if any of the others did anything to update their books. I imagine a new wave of books updated to support 1.1 or 1.2 will be available in the next couple of months.
Ed_Ingold
A second for Andrew Rodney's recommendation. Get it from those who do, not those who write.
patricklavoie
The good thing about martin evening book is he do and write : ) and the good thing about lynda.com is for 10$ more you get 100hrs on CS3 also...
john_newell2
Another vote for Martin Evening's book (and the 1.1 supplement).
mike sisk
"Photoshop Lightroom Adventure" by Mikel Aaland. This covers 1.1 and is a book of a different sort -- it shows how you can use Lightroom in the context of a photo shoot Iceland. I highly recommend this, but check it out in person first -- it's a bit different compared to the typical how-to book. -Mike
