kala_goriup
I am looking for someone who is experienced in repairing the shutter of the Argoflex E. I have a 1946 Argoflex E. My husband took it apart and cleaned the shutter assembly and we have it unstuck but we can't get it to stay closed. Once the shutter is depressed it opens, closes and them opens partially again, in what I would call a half-stop position (maybe?) New territory for me here. I don't want to spend tons on a camera I picked up for little to nothing. But it would fun to get it working and play with it. I love experimenting with old cameras. I have searched the internet. I can find some pictures of the shutter taken apart, but none where the shutter was "operational." All the photos had the shutter and aperture open. That wasn't much help. richard_oleson
I have some notes on the Argoflex shutter (beyond what's on my website); I don't know if it will be enough to help, but you're welcome to them.
richard_oleson
oops! that came out kinda big. if you just right-click on that, click "save picture as" and save it to your desktop, you can then reopen it in the Windows Picture & Fax Viewer and it will automatically size it for you.... that program has a nice print function too if you want a paper copy. kala_goriup
Thank you for the assistance. I have copied the image file for my husband. Several sights mentioned the use of lighter fluid. I purchased some today. (Since I don't smoke, this was an item I had to go find.) I am experienced with modern camera's. I have tons of photo's taken with similar pictures in family albums and I am curious to see what I can do with my "find". Thank you very much for your assistance. My husband is so very eager to flustrated by another of my projects! Kay

doug_hendrick
<p>I know this was years ago, but in case anyone else is searching and finds this. The problem is most likely that when you have the cover plate off the shutter assembly, together with the middle lens element, you also have the brass timing ring off which controls the shutter speed, so it's permanently on T. You'll notice that by the shutter release are two levers that each have a triangle sticking up, those triangles control T and B and must fit into one of the cut-outs on the timing ring, when the ring is turned, first one then both are pushed outboard. You can test that this is the problem by gently pulling the two triangles outward while the shutter is open, it should immediately close.</p>
