mike simons
This might be a "Hey, buddy, read pg. 37 of your manual" - but I've misplaced mine... Two things: How and/or under what circumstances does the AF assit light on a 580EX (mk I) trigger? Mine seemingly "never" helps me out. Second - shooting off-shoe with PWs or the GI Cactus remotes, how does one keep a strobe that's mounted 12 feet in the air on the other side of an arena/hall/event from "timing out" and hibernating? Again, a setting? A simple half-push of the shutter (as when shooting ON shoe) doesn't do the job. Thanks for insight - -Mike
jcolwell
I use my camera's "AF-assist beam" Custom Function (C.Fn 5 on 5D and 30D) to control AF assist on my flash. Maybe yours is set to "does not emit".
jason_hall4
Set custom function 14 to 1. that will turn off the auto power off feature. Had to do mine the same way for the same reason. Jason
