Folks-

I recently put up my website with only a home page and within two days started

getting calls for wedding work.

So I decided to add to the site. I put up some more pages with photos, wedding

rates and whatnot.

I haven't had a single call since.

I'd appreciate any advice anyone might have, after taking a look at my site,

regarding what I'm doing right or wrong.

I suspect I diluted the impact of my front page by adding less-than-striking

shots on the other pages, and this is why I haven't gotten any more calls.

Or maybe I shouldn't have put the rates up there. Maybe the rates are off-target.

I don't know.

What works on the site? What doesn't?

Thanks ...

Eric

I prefer having my rates up for the public to see that way I know that the inquiries that I do get are from my target market. You want to build word of mouth but you don't want *any* word of mouth. You want it building in your target market so I think it's better to be up front with your pricing. You could always be less specific and say something like "Pricing begins at $1400. Please email for more information." You don't want the client looking for a cheap rate if you are providing quality work. I say let them see what you are worth and move on if they don't appreciate quality.

Rachel-

Good advice. I don't want to overprice myself early on. At the same time, I turned down an offer for someone who wanted to hire me at $50 an hour for their wedding. I know if I was searching for a photographer, I'd want prices online. I just don't know why I stopped getting responses.

I took a look at your site, and I think the thing that throws me off the most is that there is no uniform style to your photographs. I really liked your photography, you have good technical ability and vision. But the photographs on your front page are not cohesive, and it was hard for me to determine what kind of photography you offer to your clients.

If you were to have one specific vision for your opening page, I think your business would increase because your clients would be instantly assured of the product you were offering. You could still display all the photographs you have on your site, my sugestion would be to separate them into different galleries within your page.

Hi Eric,

I agree with the others above. I would also remove the music, as nice as it is. Adding music to a Web Site is pretty much a thing of the past. It also takes longer for your home page to load and it overpowers your images. Here is a Web Site that is "chock-full" of great information for building a Web Site http://www.selfseo.com/category-11-7.php.

Hope this helps,

Sherri

I think listing of prices should be the least important concern of yours. Do you want to be known and hired for your vision or be the guy people go to because you fit into their budget? Personally I'd rather be the latter.

From looking at your site, I couldn't tell that you were a wedding photographer. Perhaps that is why you stopped getting calls, unless you changed your site since you originally posted this.
