livi_dela_victoria Posted July 29, 2007 Share Posted July 29, 2007 The 70-200 L is MUST. Doesn't matter if they're f/2.8 or f/4s. Just have one. But you should also get only the IS version. The lens f/4 is a bit heavy, the f/2.8 is VERY heavy. I also have the 24-70 f/2.8 L lens. I haven't tried it on a wedding yet. But I will today. It's SUPER heavy though. I wish it had an IS. steve_c.5 Posted August 1, 2007 Share Posted August 1, 2007 Shooting weddings, my most reached-for lens is the Sigma 10-20 wide angle zoom. Sure, I use the 70mm portrait macro and the 50mm f1.4, and the 70-200 f2.8. But the 10-20 is such a cool lens, and you can do some awesome shots with it. It doesn't bow the straight lines like a fisheye (but does distort people on the sides a bit), lets you work close-in with crowds, small dressing rooms, or you can shoot some dramatic scenic shots by a lake or other area. You can get down low and have all the groomsmen in their shades looking like a rap video, or up high on a ladder shooting a large crowd and get them all in the shot. kaiyen Posted August 12, 2007 Share Posted August 12, 2007 I like that this thread resurfaced - it's interesting how people shoot, isn't it? That that work with just primes - like Ian - wow. I am on a Nikon, so with the 1.5 crop fact, the 17-50 (Tamron) is on my main body the whole time. I then switch between the 12-24 and the 70-200 on the other one. I am considering getting the Sigma 50-150, which is highly rated from 50-100 (and "okay" at 100-150) yet still constant 2.8 but not nearly as heavy as the 70-200. I'd use the 70-200 for distance with VR in the church. So I do a lot of switching on the 2nd body. I don't use the 12-24 all that much, but when you need a wide...it's hard to shoot without one. allan Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
