paul_luckman
Has anyone any experience with trying to use a Speedlight SB-24 with a D80? Perhaps its too old and needs to be replaced with a newer Speedlight. Paul
alan_olander1664878205
You can use the flash in non-TTL auto or manual, but for iTTL you'll need a new SB-400, 600, or 800.
gv
It works fine on auto and manual camera settings. For filll flash set the aperture setting on the flash one stop faster than the camera and then adjust the flash ISO setting to fine tune the fill flash. Example: Camera set at ISO 100, f11 and 1/250, Set flash to f8, ISO 160 to obtain fill flash of -1 2/3 stops. It works fine albeit requiring more steps than when using TTL. As long as you aren't dealing with quickly changing light it isn't a big deal.
maxx_christian
No, but I just recently purchased the SB-600 and it is awesome.
n. gale
It will not work in TTL mode, but will work well with your camera in Aperture priority mode, just set the Flash to the same Aperture and ISO your camera is set at, and the max zoom of your lens you are using. nickwhite
I agree with all the above - I sold my SB24 and replaced it with SB600, but sometimes miss the superb manual control on the older gun.
gv
I want to clarify that I meant auto flash setting and manual camera settings. And as Nicholas wrote, aperture-priority mode should work too.
mawz
Works just fine in Auto and Manual mode. I'm pretty happy with my SB-24 and SB-26 on digital.
