denisgermain
you want to add color to a black and white photo? or you want to leave only a bit of color and process an image as a b&W? The second one is VERY easy... but the first one is not! http://www.escrappers.com/tinted.html
phoneguy
Are you sure you don't mean, desaturating a color photo, and leaving a portion of it colored? Look for a tool in the tool bar that looks like a sponge. Play with it on a color photo to se the results.
denisgermain
NO, NO, NO - No matter what you do don't simply desaturate (or convert to grayscale) if you want a nice B&W image. Using the Sponge tool will also create a very dull gray image.
glen_berry
Shelly - have a look at Scott Kelby's "The Photoshop Elements 5 Book for Digital Photographers" - it's 473 pages of invaluable info, and you don't have to start at page one to begin. jgaines
If you want to learn more about PSE5 I would recommend the internet training classes at: http://www.eclecticacademy.com/graphics.htm The two classes for PSE4 are great and the differences from 4 to 5 are trivial for these classes. These are 6 week courses and are very economical. I also recommend the Scott Kelby book. Jim
