Leonard-just-Leonard
I have read all the techie mumbo jumbo from Nikon's web site, even downloaded the manual. it states the coolpix s10 can handle a 1GB card. for only $10.00 more I can buy a 2GB card. Nikon's site requires you to be a registered user ie: OWNER with serial number to ask a question such as mine, and I have not bought the camera yet. Anyone know (for sure) if it will work this camera? Specifically have you actually tried it? I realize this is a very specific inquiry, but hey that's what the internet and photo.net are out there for. seems logical it would work, but at $50 per card I am not about to experiment. plus if you use an unapproved card, there is the possibility you could void the warranty. yeah, sounds paranoid but better to find out beforehand. thanks, Leonard. rainer_t
If you google for nikon s10 2gb sd you'll find ads that want to sellthis camera with a 2gb card ... threfore one would think the 2gb card should work with it. (But if in doubt, take 2 cards of 1GB). I bought a 2gb SD card recently and tried it with my old Kodak DX4530 ... worked without a problem. But I'm quite sure, my Kodak cannot handle any SDHC cards. (BTW 50$ for a 2gb card seems quite expensive ... I payed 15euros for my 2gb card, but this is a quite slow one).
Peter_in_PA
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Nikon was right about this in their manual. I wouldn't be surprised if when you put the 2G card in the camera, it either doesn't read, or reads as a 1G card. I've found, over the years, it pays to stick with Nikon's recommendations. I even steer clear of buying anything but the brands of SD card they recommend for my D50, as I had a LOT of problems with non-recommended CF cards with the old D1. kfoster70
I have a Nikon P4 coolpix. I use a Sandisk Ultra II 2gb card in it. It works fine. Since the P4 came out in Feb 2006 and the S10 came out in Aug 2006 I would be very surprised if the S10 would not work with a 2gb SD card, seein how its a newer camera. It may not work with the latest and greatest SDHC cards.
carguy
The S10 should work with the 2GB card. It will not work with capacities higher than this.
bryce_kam
I have the S10 and ordered the Sandisk 2gb Ultra II card at the same time. It works fine as far as I can tell. A formatted card with the camera set at 6mp shows 1319 pictures available. I don't have another sd card to compare it to so I can't tell you if this is what you should expect. The Sandisk site shows this card compatible with the S4 so it should be fine.
Leonard-just-Leonard
I phoned Nikon and they do not support the 2GB card, so I bought the 1GB for now at $29.98. even at the highest quality setting of 2mb per photo (which I always leave it at) I can still get over 300 pictures per card, about the same as one battery's usage. at 1mb per picture the card only gives me 650 +/- pictures, even after reformatting. where does that other 300++ MB go? can't be that much overhead in the camera's operating system? I will probably buy another card as a backup against read/write errors and/or to shoot movies on.
