What is the best camera for self-portraits? I am willing to invest a moderate

amount of money. I would appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks!

You will get a lot of "this one is the best responses". First of all, digital or film? If film what format? Color or B&W? What size prints will you make?

You want something that allows manual exposure and manual focus as you won't be in the frame when setting the camera. A light meter would also be useful.

Any camera can do a self-portrait and it depends on how you want them to look. Anyone that recommends specific cameras or lenses isn't doing you any good, they're just talking about themselves. Figure out how you want your photos to look and choose an appropriate setup for that. Most self-portraits these days are taken with camera phones, in case you were wondering.

Well you'll need either a self-timer or some kind of remote triggering device. You could always shoot into a mirror but then you'd get the camera in the frame. Lots of famous self-portraits have been taken like that.
