jwhite3.0
Don't know. Make sure you understand any potential issues with 1-year Canon warranty. Probably none but I'm not sure. How easy it to return an item from US to the store in Japan? Probably not a fun conversation esp. if you don't know Japanese.
lmz
The well-known ManShing and Wingshing camera stores in Mong Kok area of Kowloon, HK has 1DIII according to multiple eye witness reports in the last few days. But probably they are gone by now. Below are their addresses and phone#, in case you have a stop-over in HK. Man Shing Camera 萬成 G/F, Shop 106, Tung Choi Street, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong, phone: 2396-2996 Wing Shing Camera 永成 G/F, Shop 66, Sai Yeung Choi Street South, Mong Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong Phone: 2396-6886,2396-6961

wimswyzen
Thank you. Unfortunately no stop-over in Hong Kong. Good price though. Do you have experience in shipping from Hong Kong to US ?
leslie_cheung
Don't mean to hijack the thread but anyone know the prices of 5d and Fuji S5 in Mong kok (HK) and/or Japan?
terry_smith2
If you send it back to the USA by whatever means, you only get a USD 100.00 customs exemption and you'll have to pay duty on the rest. If you carry it back, there's a USD 400.00 exemption per person and families can pool their exemptions. If you are travelling with your spouse, USD 800.00 escapes customs charges and there are no shipping charges. Something to think about. The best camera shops in Tokyo are in the Shinjuku district. amy_wilson
Also, try Akihabara in Tokyo. I find most things there.
peng_kit_wong
The official release here in Japan is not know yet at the moment. It was said that it will be released end of May and rumors said that it might be on 25th May. In Japan, Canon usually release their new models on a Friday. It will be hard to get one on the day it is released because a lot of people are on the waiting list. I am one of them! Price wise, it is about 498,000 yen.
