t_n1
Hi there, I am used to using channel mixer for most of my BW conversion needs. I noticedthat in CS3, a new BW conversion method is possible with 'Black & White'. Cansomeone explain to me (or point to appropriate websites) how they compute this?I noticed that in all of my images, adjusting 'magenta' does nothing. I alsounderstand that there seems to generally be no rules applied, such as the sumshould be 100% in channel mixer. Any pointers? Thank you for your time. nels
There's nothing to explain. Play with the 6 sliders to get the look you want, and check the "Tint" box and play with two more sliders to get the tint you want. Careful about that blue channel, though. james_conway1
Moving the slider to the right lightens that color from the original in the new b&w, moving the slider to the left darkens that color.

try it in a photo that has a couple really distinct colors - it will be more obvious.
