nels
Taiyo Yuden.
Ed_Ingold
I use Taiyo Yuden DVDs exclusively. They are high quality and widely available in quantity. They exhibit a very low error rate, especially the +R discs. In addition to backing up a lot of digital photos, I operate an audio-visual production business (original recordings), and burn hundreds of discs a year. If there are problems, I see them in spades. Archival quality is not so much determined by brand as by procedure. Problems with disc readibility can usually be traced to a bad recording at the onset. You should always perform a file compare operation following recording to disc. On a sample basis, you should perform an error analysis. Plextor drives come with Plextools software which is highly effective. The drives are among the best available. That said, there are some brands I wouldn't touch, having failed these tests consistently. File comparision will not, in itself, guarantee good recordings, since error rates up to 300/second can be tolerated, but may caused a problem in the future. A good recording has an error rate less than 10/second.

steve_bennett6
I've bought MAM-A at a number of online stores including Encore Data Products (http://www.encoredataproducts.com) and Data Media Store (http://www.datamediastore.com). Good experiences with both so far.
