No KatzEye for D1H - what to do?

Sweet Rachael Katz just informed me that they don't make screens for D1H. As I

do a lot of MF with my AIS lenses I would have liked to try out their focusing

screens with the two-half-circle center. Many a D200 owner around here are very

pleased with theirs it seems.

Any alternatives?

I got the same reply a few months back. Try the DK-17M eyepiece magnifier.

Michael: Yes, I was looking for focusing enhancing screens, but I don't think the E-type will do it for me.

There! I bought the DK-17M, looks like it could improve focusing by the magnifying - heck, it would maybe even make room for my nose as well back there behind the camera...

I?m using a DG-2 eyepiece magnifier on my D200 for fine focus adjustments with the AI lenses.

D1X and D1H take F100 screens, which you can get an from Beattie in either diagonal or horizontal split. The split image on a Beattie is huge, bigger than that of a Nikon screen, and looks big even on a full frame camera. On a 1.5x crop D1X it may dominate the viewfinder.

 

The Nikon K3 screen for FM3A will also fit, if you file off the little tab on the K3 screen. The split image is smaller, and more pleasant.

 

Then a DK-17m magnifier with a DK-19 eyecup and you're all set.
