Which one you prefer?

Depends on what you want the viewer to experience, Travis. I lean towards number one simply because I think it's a more balanced composition (and despite the blurred hand). I think the second is strange, not sure what your aim is (no pun intended), and the background figure tells me of something else besides the deity statue, but no more.

 

So, to answer your question, I prefer number 1.
