ellis_vener_photography
Chimera Pro II. Some times the cheapest is not the best buy over the long term.
digitmstr
There are many good boxes out there, including Photoflex for example.
Also, look into the Photek Softlighter II umbrella boxes (they come in three sizes). They are relatively inexpensive, well made and very flexible in that they can work as standard umbrellas, shoot through umbrellas and umbrella box. big lens productions
I use a 48" JTL SB on a Versalight 500. It works well for one or two people. The problem is once you relize what you can do with a soft box you will want the honeycomb grids that attach to the front to give a more dramatic affect. Unfortuinatly they cost more than the SB its self. I think I paid $75.00 for the SB and $100.00 for the grid. Also Hair light SB's are very effective as well. I use 12" X 36 SB's with the honeycomb grids on JTL Mobilight 300's $65.00 for the SB and $79.00 for the grid. On the hairlights I never shoot without the grids Huge difference! If you are realy straped for cash you can always use a cardboard box and a womans white slip or somthing made from the same material. I would not recoment this route if you charge for your services.
