alexander_wahl
I just got my ZF 25mm today. ?..It is all I expected. Very sharp. Wonderful color. I like that the aperture is noted by the D200. The D200 (focus meter) ?Electronic Range finder? works very well. My 2.8 AFS Objectives clip (the AF assist light of the D200.) The build in flash works without making a shadow. ( If I leave a filter or Polarizer on my 17-35mm2.8 AFS and 28-70mm 2.8 AFS I get a shadow with the build in flash.) I like that the lens is small with great performance (With my 2.8 AFS Nikon objectives people always look at theses big lenses and all I wanted is great Zoom lenses) To my surprice it is very easy to manual focus and to confirm Focus with the ?Electronic Range finder? (I am used to the super fast autofocus from my AFS objectives and was worried going with a manual lens.) Vision is very subjective, for me just looking in the viewfinder I thought the ZF 25mm Zeiss is optically is a lot better than my 17-35mm 2.8 Nikon. (I like all my Nikon Zoom but feel the 28-70mm 2.8 works better with the D200 over the 17-35mm 2.8.) I will now mainly use the 28mm-70mm 2.8 AFS and the 25mmZF. (Before I used the 17-35mm 2.8 AFS and a 85mm Nikon) The cost, well you get what you pay for. Not to say that some lower cost equipment are necessarily bad. It all just depends what you need and want. If I had poor eyesight or poor color perception I would not buy it.
