For these people his camera and lens reviews have a bent toward value rather than absolute image quality. His site is not aimed for the pros or budding pros. marshall Posted February 27, 2007 Share Posted February 27, 2007 Ken's controversial for good reason, but there's no way I'm picking on him for a page of shots of his new baby. Your average new parent hasn't had enough sleep to remember which side of the camera to aim at the subject and Ken's shots are pretty cute new baby shots. Ken might open himself up for plenty of criticism (witness the linked "Color Management is for Wimps" article), but I'm leaving this one alone. They are candid shots in uncontrolled environments of personal, family moments. Now if you really want to be objective and fair, you should grade him on the pics in his gallery. I don't think he was gunning for Annie Liebowitz's gig with those - just another proud dad with a camera is all. Some of Ken's work is pretty good even though I don't agree with all of his advice. He is very pragmatic and keeps his photography simple. As I get older I have less and less time to devote to the nuts and bolts of photography. Funny how he managed to include himself in some of those pictures while he was shooting them at the same time. I'll treat his reviews more "seriously" than yours. Heck, I have thousands of photos of my kids, and technically most of them are crappy, but I love looking at them anyway. It is a known risk of fatherhood.
