alexander_illich
Went out shooting today with my 'new' 1966' 500c Hasselblad + 80mm Zeiss Planar , I'm on my 5th roll and decided today to do a long exposure, usinig the bulb setting (and no cable release). I've used the bulb setting before but there has never been a problem. Fired the shutter, the mechanics went into action, however, they never stopped. My mirror is locked up, the shutter won't open, the lens won't come off, etc. It's locked on B setting, except for the fact that the shutter is closed. I've tried everything to reset the shutter, using a cable release, etc. Any suggestions? I live in Toronto and if I do have to get it repaired (and not pay a fortune) are there any suggestions? Sincerely,Alex I
michael_taylor9
Hello there Alexander, I live in Peterborough now, haveing lived in T.O for 17 years. You could call Kominek on Young St. south of College. Or call Vistek on Queen St. East. Vistek has a web site with contact info. Kominek is a repair shop and you can see them at www.kominek.com. I had a very similar problem with a former Mamiya 67 and took it to a place in Mississauga who, firstly treated me like an idiot and then charged me well over $100. From what I gather this type of body/lens combination seems to be prone to this jamming. It's not really broken, but more likely misaligned in some way. Try to avoid any shop in Miss. My guess is you will still be paying over $80. Good luck.
vick_ko
Hasselblads are very straight-forward to repair. http://www.camtexgroup.com/ http://www.david-odess.com/ Can you get the magazine off? If you can, do you know how to unjam a Hasselblad? I suspect the B on the lens isn't cycling correctly. Good luck Vick
russ_britt3
Check to see if you moved the shutter lock on.If it is the shutter will remain loved open. Its the lever beside the shutter release, try to move this to unlock the shutter. Hasselblads aren`t prone to locking up....they just don`t suffer uninformed users well.

gary_watson
I think David's your man. Visit www.harrysproshop.com and check the web listing there. You might also ask Brian at Harry's who knows everything "Hasselblad." I'd forget Kominek for Hassie. jack_lo_..._t_o
You can try International Camera on the Queensway in Etobicoke. He (Stan) has the best prices for repairs and a large amount of parts cameras & lenses, and a store that's fun to browse in. He loves old European equipment. 416-255-3072. Kominek is ok too. Mr. Kominek is long gone. What a crabby old fart he was!
