jack_lam1
I just received a (so-called) "like-new" Waist-level finder for my Bronica SQ-A. Whenever I am done using the magnifier and close it, the metal edge of the magnifier rubs against the left inner surface of the hood. It makes an irritating "creeeking" noise of metal rubbing against each other. I kinda have to push and force it in every time. Same thing happens to you? Is it bad design or bad sample? Another lemon from ebay?
dave_thomas8
"Same thing happens to you? Is it bad design or bad sample? Another lemon from ebay?" Mine is silent and appears to work fine, but then I purchased it rated "EX" from KEH. For what seems should be a simple gizmo, those finders are quite complex and perhaps somewhat delicate mechanical beasties. I suppose a number of the parts could easily bend and misalign things after an accidental smack with a blunt object. I'd say you got a bad sample. rickvivian
Not a big problem, Jack. I had the same with one I bought from an ebay reputable store and found that I could give the retractable lens carrier a slight sideways "flex" when released from its locked down position. This changed the alignment enough to give a smooth and unhindered opening and closing action without any visible deterioration in focus. They are quite a robust piece of gear so I wasn't in fear of breaking anything, but I do mean "flex" not with sufficient force to "bend". Hope this helps.
