mark_davis11
This is a basic dumb question> i have an old vivitar lens on a 35mm can body that I've used for years in clinical dental macrophotography. The lens was so "sweet" for accurate color with an 81B filter and an amber acetate over the vivitar point flash. I've purchased 2 expensive digital cameras (about $3500 each) set up with ring and point flashes for closeups and never come close to the quality of my original scanned into computer for LCD projection in front of audiences 35mm slides. The question--- Is it possible to adapt the 30 year old vivitar lens to a digital body and have any kind of results? Thank you, Mark Davis
sam_thompson2
Depends on what kind of digital camera it is and what kind of camera it is. If it's a Vivitar film camera you were using. It is likely a K mount camera. The Pentax or Samsung DSLRs take these lenses without an adapter.
bueh
Canon bodies can use a lot of manual focus with <b><a href="http://www.bobatkins.com/photography/eosfaq/manual_focus_EOS.html" target="_NEW">adapters</a></b>.
tommyinca
Never seen a 50-105mm zoom from Vivitar or any other brand. What kind of mount does it has?
andy mcleod
Or if your not sure what mount, what was the body you used it on.
sam_thompson2
I got an email from Mark. I will respond here. Mark said it is for a Minolta mount camera. Currently, it seems the best digital camera that can use the Minolta mounts is the 4/3s cameras from Olympus, Panasonic and Leica http://www.rokkorfiles.com/olympus.htm You can get the adapter at cameraquest.comhttp://www.cameraquest.com/adapt_olyE1.htm Vivitar didn't make their own lens, so even if you find another Vivitar lens from the same era there is no guarantee that the performance will be the same. http://www.cameraquest.com/VivLensManuf.htm
