ldw
I am trying my hand at some in-home studio work...I'll be renting a couple strobes to take some shots of my 1 year old daughter (too cold to shoot outdoors...) My question is; I am looking for advice as to a quick and cheap background? My goal is to create enough distance from the background such that it will be out of focus, though I am working in a smaller room (10X15). Any suggestions? I will likely be shooting primarily color, but maybe a bit of B&W too. Thanks!
w.smith
That size room will make it extremely difficult to not use too much unflatteringly distorting wide angle while at the same time keeping enough distance between the subject and any background, Lee! BTW, you looking for a dark background or are you planning on lighting it too?
giggles
I would recommend a roll of seamless paper or some solid color fabric from your local fabric store - I know some photographers that use fleece or Marine Vinyl. Good Luck.
timcorridan
quick and cheap= walmart fabric dept. but first, look thru your entire house, every closet, and think, think, think, of what might make a nice background for free. a big plant? for head/shoulder shots, you can drape the high chair w/ cloth. it keeps them up, and from moving around, also brings them up to a nice window light level.<div></div>
ldw
Thanks for the feedback...W I probably have a bit more runway than 15 feet, more like 20 feet if I move some furniture around...Maybe that will make a difference?
