Greetings to all, especially new forum readers/participants.

<p>

I understand that photo.net received over 10,000 new member registrations last

month! So there is a good chance that you are one of those new members.

<p>

<b>WHO AM I</b><br>I am taking this opportunity to introduce myself as the

primary moderator for this forum. Our forum is very lucky to have the

assistance of Mike Dixon also as a forum moderator here. If you need any

assistance whatsoever I am at your service. Please contact me personally via

email and I will respond as soon as I am able. To find my email address, just

click on my name and and then the link that requests my email address. Please

use a good subject line in any emails you send me. As with the majority of

people who've used email for some length of time, within less than about a 10th

of a second, my mind either flags an email as spam or recognizes it as worthy of

opening, and that is based on the name and the subject line.

<p>

<b>TERMS OF USE</b><br>It is my duty to point out the <b><a

href="http://www.photo.net/terms-of-use">photo.net Terms of Use</a></b> which, as a

user of photo.net, you are required to read, understand, and adhere to. Please

review that page. Additionally, each forum has an "About" section which usually

contains some forum-specific rules that you must also follow. Please have a

look at <b><a href="http://www.photo.net/bboard/policy?topic_id=1548">the Leica

and Rangefinder Forum Guidelines</a></b>.

<b>FROM THE EDITOR</B><br>There is a <b><a

href="http://www.photo.net/from-the-editor/200701">Letter from The

Editor</a></b>, Philip Greenspun (Editor in Chief and originator of photo.net)

which offers information on new staff, new hardware, etc., that you are

encouraged to read.

<p>

<b>ABOUT US</B><BR>

There is an updated <b><a href="http://www.photo.net/about-us">About Us</a></b>

page that will reveal the people behind photo.net including who all the

moderators are. Please have a look.

<p>

<b>GREATEST LEICA SPOT</B><BR>

Please continue to make this one of the most interesting photography forums on

the internet. If you discover any inappropriate posting behavior, please do not

respond but rather send me an email which details the inappropriateness,

including the URL of the thread in question. NOTE: responding to inappropriate

posts in effect can make you just as guilty as the original offender. Don't be

a sucker: send me email instead. I will promptly take care of the matter.

<b>< </b>FROM THE EDITOR

There is a Letter from The Editor, Philip Greenspun (Editor in Chief and originator of

photo.net) which offers information on new staff, new hardware, etc., that you are

encouraged to read.<b>></b> <b>"</b> One general rule is 'if the product was

discontinued more than 15 years ago, stop talking about it." Expect to see more about

digital cameras and less about film and LP records.<b>"</b>

<p><em>One general rule is "if the product was discontinued more than 15 years ago, stop talking about it"</em> <a href="http://www.photo.net/from-the-editor/200701">we are told</a>.</p><p>Well, there's little potential ad revenue in old stuff.</p><p>I always say that gormless males should be fluffed up as much as possible to buy as much new camera gear as possible. It helps the Japanese economy, and the more money they spend on camera gear the less they have left over for SUVs, guns and similar silliness.</p>

If I am looking for guidance on over 15 year old RF gear, this is where I come first. I'd rather buy old stuff here, even if I have to wait as I have no use for e.*. The "old stuff" seems to remain in demand, we are even willing to get it repaired and rebuilt through forum contacts, and dealers like K&H have old stuff. Wonder how the dealers would feel about a policy that discourages selling/trading in old Leica, Canon and Nikon rangefinder equipment.

Jerry, what are you talking about? Thanks for keeping my thread on the topic of being "feisty," especially after I attempted to get the thread back onto topic by removing 12 threads that were off topic (and quite stupid). With your help we can probably look forward to never being called feisty again, yah? Got a camera?
