Recently I dropped my exturnal hard drive and it broke, i am now in the

process of restoring it, or at least trying to, as it had about 50GB's of data

on it, if anyone has any suggestions on how to go about this could they please

let me know, Cheers, Dan

I had an external drive fall from about 3-4 feet, the drive was not active at the time so only the enclosure broke. I was able to move the drive to a new enclosure with not problems. A good enclosure costs about $30-40 if you want usb and firewire.

Something inside the sealed unit broke i think, when i turn it on it makes a clicking noise for a few minuites before turning itself off. It does not appear on the computer as a hard drive. What i think made it worse was that it was transfering data at the time i dropped it.
