I'd like to hear from anybody that has used or is using the sites like

ImageQuix, SmugMug. Using them to build and support their websites, sell your

photos, etc. They both look good and appear to have much to offer.

I use Shutterfly Pro to sell event photos. No problems with the site or quality of the prints.

 

I wrap the gallery pages in frames to (sort of) fit them into my site: http://moving-target-photos.com/for-sale.html

 

Mostly I just send out the direct URL for a group of photos, for example: http://www.shutterfly.com/pro/MTP/NACRA2006

I have not been all that impressed with SmugMug - I find the images are slow to load. I've got a load of photos up on Phanfare.com and I love it - great slideshows, you can add your own soundtracks to different collections..etc. It is not really geared up to be a pro commercial site but it definitely showcases photographs in an impressive way. $299 for a lifetime membership. Good luck with whatever you decide.

I can heartily endorse smugmug. The site is easily customized (depending of course on your level of comfort and ability) and I have been very pleased with their customer service. EZPrints does their printing and I've only had one complaint from a customer - and that was not a printing issue. In three years with them I haven't seen anything that has made me seriously consider another provider.

It depends on what you are specifically looking for. Some sites target high volume pros who need help with the production process (ImageQuix); others target those looking to print albums, etc... (shutterfly) and others target people looking for online galleries (smugmug).

 

All allow printing to one extent or another, but listen to their sales pitch to find out if you're in their target market.

BTW, I do use smugmug, but my main purpose is to present my images online and allow printing/downloading for some of them.
