Jerry_
It could be that the SB-26 you have has 'lived' as long as it could. The Nikon speedlights do wear out after years of service. A Nikon repair shop is located near Chicago, or you could inquire at www.nikonusa.com to see if they still will repair the SB-26 models?
david_gagnon
I don't know the particulars about the SB-26, but I looked it up in my B.Moose Peterson Nikon System Handbook, and there is a pull out wide angle diffuser on your flash. Is it possible that this is pulled out into wide angle mode, rendering the zoom head inoperable? I know this happened to me on my SB-800 (with the diffuser dome) and it drove me nuts until I figured it out. Please let us know if this fixes your problem!
