j_robinson2
Have a couple of Bronica SQa cameras and am thinking of trying the digital back route if it is available for this body. Anyone with experience know what will fit the camera?
ellis_vener_photography
I don't believe any digital back manufacturer makes an adapter for that camera, but I could be wrong. Look up Phase One, Leaf, Jenoptik, Imacon (now Hasselblad), and Sinar. A Hasselblad 500 series camera is an excellent platform for a digital back. juan_su
Heller, thanks for that info. I was wondering that myself. I did a look up and was able to find this link to the adapter's page http://www.silvestricamera.it/eng/prodotti_eng/adapters/adapters.htm it appears that this adapter will allow an ETRS and SQ Bronica to operate digibacks made for Hasselblad. Good thing is that this allows for future life of the bronie's, but a digiback for a Hassie is mucho dinero! Does anyone have any experience with these adaptors? or how much they would cost?? Is it even worth it?
heller_harris
It's going to be a couple of years (3-5?) before a new medium format digital back costs less than a car. The used market will follow that. I was thinking the same thing, but I'm not optimistic. At the rate that small DSLR's are going, it will probably be a useless exercise. denis_kazakov
Phase One used to make a couple that fit Bronica SQ and ETRSi. Go to www.phaseone.com and see under Discontinued Models. I was thinking about it myself but don't know if these models can be easily found on the second-hand market.
shutay
<p>This is a very late response, but I am posting it here as an answer in order that it might help those still searching for a way to use medium format digital backs on their Bronica SQ or ETR systems.</p> <p>The best way to fit a digital back to a Bronica SQ or ETR system these days is to buy a <a href="http://www.kapturegroup.com/bronica/bronica.html">Hasselblad V adapter</a> from <a href="http://www.kapturegroup.com/">Kapture Group</a>. The function of this adapter is to enable an SQ or ETR system owner to attach and use I believe any digital back designed to fit a Hasseblad System V camera that can be triggered via the camera PC Sync socket. Some Q&A with the folk at Kapture Group who responded very quickly confirms that even with the adapter plate fitted, you will still have infinity focus with all lenses.</p> <p>Sorry, no luck as far as I know for GS-1 users though.</p> <p>Disclaimer: I do not work for Kapture Group and I am not affiliated with them in anyway. I am just another SQ-Ai user who was looking for a digital back solution.</p>
