glassbus11
Im absolutely positively getting a Holga. ASAP. But before I jump into it, Im trying to find out if the Holga 120 FN (flash only, no color wheel built in) will take a color wheel afterwards? Could I buy a FN and then buy one later or do I have to get the CFN in order to have the colorflash? Im sorry if this has been asked before, I did a bit of research. :)
brian l. schiele
You could probably use some gels to color the flash. Tape them over the flash or something. You could also get one of the filter kits that are out there. Good Luck! And Have Fun! Brian
jon_b.1
I have the Holga with the built in flash, and also one without the flash. My experience has been the built in flash is not powerfull enough for indoor shots, but does work fine as an outdoor fill-in flash. The one without the flash has a hot-shoe and accepts any flash unit you might have. It is also quite a bit lighter. The filter kits are fun to have, too. That said, if you are inclined at all to get the color-flash model, then why not go for it? They are all good fun.
ted_chambers
I think the answer is no. The color wheel is within the camera. Instead of buying a standard Holga, though, look at Holgamods: www.holgamods.com Very little extra money, and the mods are worth it. In particular, get the velcro. The back will probably fall off the first time you open it (Holga's aren't well known for their quality construction), and without the velcro you'll be using duct tape to hold the thing together. wickedmartini
It is possible to add a hot shoe mountable Colorsplash flas unit: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/sc_prod.php?cat_id=&pid=5630 Just make sure that you purchase a Holga model with a hot shoe. michael_kuhle3
There's also a Holgon Strobe Flash which is really powerful. If you hook that up to the Holga GN (hotshoe model with "B" exposure feature) you can really get incredible results! <img src="http://farm1.static.flickr.com/65/194826835_34d0710cb7.jpg">
