john_brewton
Nice shots, Peter. I know it's hard to tell with a JPEG on the net, but that Zeiss lens looks pretty sharp.
per_bostrom
I love misty mornings and I love good M8 pics.
cphoto
Depth of field is terrific. Also, the contrast along with excellent shadow detail. I like the window and flowers shot best. Thanks for posting your great pictures. I am getting sold on the M8.
peter_werner1
Nice shots, Peter. I know it's hard to tell with a JPEG on the net, but that Zeiss lens looks pretty sharp.
Thank you John and Per

This lens is indeed quite sharp. The pictures here could have been even sharper, some of them were taken at speeds as low as 1/4sec hand-held. One tends to easily misjudge this lens due to its low contrast. The results on film often seemed rather poor when compared to contrastier lenses. I re-discovered it when I put in on the M8 and started adjusting the contrast in post-processing. The low contrast of the lens makes for some dreamy pictures. It also has the advantage that highlights do not get so easily burnt out. If you need higher contrast, you can adjust it in Photoshop.

Here another one, typically low contrast that renders very well the scene as seen by the human eye.

The excellent shadow detail is partly a result of the low contrast of this lens. For the window and flowers shot I increased contrast in Photoshop. When I received my M8, beginning of November, the negative comments I read everywhere initially put me off. In the meantime I realize what a great picture taking machine it is. I very rarely have had problems, but then I do not usually take indoor shots of people wearing tuxedoes.
