brent_bennett
I just bought an OM-2. I searched, but couldn't find a specific recommendation for the batteries. A guy on ebay sells some 1.5V AG13 batteries (he claims comparable to A76, 357, LR44, and SR44), but I would like to know the best ones for longevity, with correct voltage, of course. Your recommendation please (also for source, if possible). Many Thanks!
steven_moseley1
Hiya, I strongly advise the following..only SR44 and not any of the other so-called compatible ones. Do not buy cheap Chinese or other batteries, do not buy alkaline ones either. The vast majority of the batteries on ebay are cheap rubbish Chinese alkaline ones. They last a week and then give the wrong voltage anyway..AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE. Buy SR44, SILVER OXIDE, preferably made in Japan...even if they cost 4 times as much! cheers Steve. berk_sirman2
Avoid alkaline batteries and always use good quality SR44 silver ones. A few months ago I realized the meter readings of my OM2n were way off. I first thought of sending the camera to service but then replaced the alkaline batteries with SR44's. (the alkaline batteries in the camera were only a couple of months old, and the battery check was working fine) After replacing the batteries the meter gave correct readings. shadowfox
I got the cheapest price at Fry's Electronics (1.29 dollars for a pair). Duracell brand, I think. Like others said already, avoid Alkaline (LR44), go for Silver Oxide (SR44). Btw, these batteries will also work when you or your son are ready to "level-up" to OM-4(T).
