Screen size on iMac?

Recommended Posts

I've searched the site and found only comments appreciating the greater real

estate on the larger screens. I'm buying an iMac and a distant friend brought up

something I hadn't thought of. (I presently own a 17" Dell monitor and I've seen

only the 17" Apple and I live far from any Apple Store so my purchase will

arrive sight unseen by mail.) I'm wondering if there is an issue with viewing

distance, eye to screen measurement, when using the larger (20" or 24")

monitors? Tired eyes? Head movement left and right? That sort of thing. It would

seem that one would need to park themselves at a greater distance from the

larger screens? If so, does this present any issues? New glasses? Thank you.

I teach in a lab full of the new Intel processor 20" iMacs. I don't have any particular issues

with them myself, though I suspect that I may move forward and backwards subconsciously

at times. I notice that some of the students tilt the monitors down a bit, as if it may be a bit

high for them - of course, a number of them do tend to slouch a bit... :-)
