timswaback
I took some B&W photos with my rebel XT with its B&W mode, but when i load them into rawshooter, they show up B&W for about 2 seconds, then convert to color, when i process them to jpg, theyre color images. Is there a setting to keep them B&W and process them B&W like i shot them?
hugh_crawford1
The B&W mode only makes the JPEG a B&W , not the raw, since the raw is, after all, the raw information from the sensor. Just desaturate them in your raw software.
timswaback
arg, thats annoying, why is there even that function then if the raw cant hold that information. But then again, it can hold that information because is shows up originally as B&W. I see B&W images totally different than color, so now that i see them in color i dont know which ones to process to JPGS. how frustrating.
godfrey
B&W digital is a rendering process set by the image processing settings, not a capture mode. RAW data is the same regardless of what image processing settings you use. Godfrey
tom_swanson
The information is tagged in the raw files and will be honored by the canon software. Try that.
peter_foiles2
Most consider this a good feature not a bad one, since you still have the option for a color image if you want. You also have the option of the doing the BW conversion yourself which give you much more control than letting the Camera do it for you. As has been said if you use Canon's DPP is will render the raw in BW be default if that is how you shot it. The embeded jpg is also still in BW, that is what RS is showing until it has made it's own thumbnail in color. That bw jpg can be extracted again using Canon software.
