cpj
I turned off the LCD screen image last time I used the D-200 and I can't figure out how to turn it back on! I don't have my manual or cheat sheet with me. AND, I have a wicked headache right now because I'm trying to shoot a macro image of a machine part for someone halfway across the country. I need to see it in the LCD to set it up right. I'm using the 60mm macro lens. Somebody please tell me what button to push to turn the LCD screen back on. Thanks. david_gagnon
Ummmm..... "I need to see it in the LCD to set it up right. I'm using the 60mm macro lens." With the D200 you cannot see the image on the LCD untilafter you have made the image; then you can view it. DG
cpj
David, You are telling me it doesn't work like the D70 where you can use the LCD as a substitute for the viewfinder ? ? If that's correct, no wonder I'm screwed up since I have both cameras.
ncowger
David is right, you can't use the screen to view an image until after you take the picture, D70 is the same way.
cpj
Thanks guys, I just found that out about the D70 too when I switched cameras. I'm not really a digital guy but some things require an immediate image such as in this case. I got my photos and I appreciate everyone responding quickly to help. todd peach seattle, washi
Pretty much all the DSLRs with interchangable lenses don't have live preview. The mirror blocks the sensor until the moment you press the shutter. I think there's been a few fixed lens DSLRs that essentially have an electronic viewfinder that you view through; these usually have a 'live preview' LCD on the back as well. I'm not sure if there are any interchangable lens DSLRs with that feature set (outside of the relatively obscure Fuji UV/IR criminalist camera). garry edwards
Todd, The Fuji S3 Pro has a live preview facility, in black & white only. I've never tried it.
todd peach seattle, washi
Interesting feature, Garry. I was not aware of that. According to dpreview.com, they accomplish it by swinging the mirror and opening the shutter (and you can't 'shoot' from that mode).
jakob_norstedt_moberg
Canon D20a also has live preview. /Jakob
ShunCheung
To be precise, it is the Canon 20Da, the version for astro photography (and therefore the A).
