matthew_wilson2
Hello all; this is my first post. I hate to say this, but I'm a newbie to film photography, and I have a technical question: I just inherited a Minox IIIs, without a light meter, and while the instruction manual gives general guidelines for the shutter speed setting in various light conditions for speeds ASA 12 to ASA 100, I was wondering if anyone knew what setting(s) I should use for 400 speed film? Thank you, thank you, thank you. -Matthew
MTC Photography
The general rule of thumb: outdoor setting: sunlight 10xASA. For example of outdoor sunlight, you use ASA 100 film, the shutter setting = 10 x 100 = 1000 that is 1/1000 sec. ASA 400 film is too high for outdoor, you need a shutter setting of 1/4000 sec, you need a 4x ND filter to use ASA 400 film outdoor
Troll
If it's Black and White film, just slide the filter over the lens, and shoot at 1/1000 sec. The latitude of the film will cover any deviation from the "proper" exposure. If it's color film, you're screwed.
