eyal_pinkas
Hello to you all, I am planning to buy a Mamiya rb pro - s. I would like to know if anyone has experience with the 6 x 8 back. The 6 x 8 back is one of the main reasons I would like to have this camera. Is the image sharpe, does the lenses give a good cover for the whole frame and so on. And last question, why the rz doesnt have this back? Thank you, Eyal
mag_miksch
I have used a Graflex 6x9 back on my RB without vignetting or similar effects, so from the lense is not a problem to use the 6x8 back.
haris_ashraf
I have used a 6x8 back with and RB Pro S. With a 127mm and 150mm lens I did not notice any issue with sharpness, etc. However, the Pro S has two models. In order to fill the frame of the 6x8 back you need to use the model that has the 6x8 revolving adapter. You can use the 6x8 back on all RB models but you may no be able to expose all the frame. I know for sure that the original RB model has that issue. I hope this help.

troyammons
mag miksch , feb 17, 2006; 08:36 a.m. I have used a Graflex 6x9 back on my RB without vignetting or similar effects, so from the lense is not a problem to use the 6x8 back. I have a horseman 6x9 graflok back sitting right here and a RB pro with a 90mm lens on the way. So this will work ?? or do I need the revolving back or what. wayne_crider4
Do you want a motorized back, or are you looking for a larger image? The 6x8 back takes 4 AA batteries and I have no idea how noisey it is nor what the image size is. I shoot a cut film holder on my RB with the 6x9 plate adapter for 77mm long images. The RZ went with a Quadra film back giving 72mmx72mm images and uses sheet film, quick load or readyload holders.
mag_miksch
Troy, you allways need that revolving back to attach a roll film holder to a RB, best you go to Mamiya homepage and look for a download of the manual.
troyammons
I had an RZ a while back, and i just thought the RB might be different. I looked again and the body i have coming does have a graflok rotating back on it, but it does not look like the opening is big enough for 6x9. How did you set your camera up to use a 6x9 back ?? mag_miksch
Troy, the RB cannot be set to 6x9, but its a 8x8 camera, so you can use 6x9 or 6x8 backs and get the same image size.
