steve_levine
A friend has offered a Canon RF lens (black) 50MM F 1.8. Is this a good shooting lens? I'm more of an F8 type of shooter, than a wide open guy. If this is helpfull ? I already own the 35MM F1.8, and I'm quite pleased with it. Is this 50 of similar vintage(same black barrel) and quality? Thanks.

cbettis
At various times, I've had three of the black 50 f1.8's and all have been sparkling performers. I wouldn't hesitate! Chuck
al_kaplan1
The only downside to the Canon lens is the oddball 40mm filter size, but that's the same size as your 35/1.8 uses. The 50 is comparable to a Summicron of the same vintage, an excellent lens.
jtk
Leica survives only because Canon and Nikon improved the breed.
victorm.
It's a good lens. The 40mm filter size can be handled with a 40 to 40.5mm adapter, available on ebay.
