colleendonovan
Hi all. Okay, so I signed up with Asuka Books, etc. I'd love to make a book, but I can't figure out how to get the picture onto the template in PS. Please don't laugh, I've been trying for 2 hours. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!Colleen
douglas_price
Open the template, and the photo you want, then copy and paste from one to the other.
colleendonovan
How do you cut and paste in PS??? I open the template, then I open the picture I want and from there I'm lost. I right click on the picture and copy isn't an option, neither is cut. Agh!!!
michelle a.
Select all, then Edit...Copy or Ctrl+C. Have to select first.
t._duane_jones
Colleen
I open the template & the photo I want to use in the same window. I crop/edit the image/images the way I want it, then drag it over onto the Asuka template. I then work in layers to get the page the way I like it. Let me know if this helps. It takes some time to get used to the templates. The asuka books are beautiful albums. Best of luck!
Duane
colleendonovan
Thanks to all! Duane, thanks for your advice. Do you just crop the pictures to fit in the templates? I'm going to have to practice for hours. Thanks again!
t._duane_jones
Colleen
I try to have the image sized properly before I drag it to the template. If you're putting several images on the page, I like to edit each one individually. I sharpen them before moving them, because each image may require a different level of USM. Once I get them onto the template, I use layers to place them where I want them. I may have to make minor size adjustments, but I try to do that before moving them to the template. Hopefully this will help, let me know if you have any questions. What size book are you building?
Duane
colleendonovan
Right now I'm just playing around. I'm using a 10x10 template. I wanted to see how difficult it would be to put one together. They look really cool. I think I've got it down. Maybe I'll post it in a few days when I'm done. Thanks so much for the help!! jon jacobson
I don't recall the edit commands (copy, cut, paste) ever being available via right-click in PS (Windows anyway). Maybe Elements?
Anyway, like it was suggested, drag & drop is efficient. Plus, the shortcut keys are a person's best friend (ctrl+C for copy, ctrl+P for paste, etc.)
Without knowing exactly what your template looks like, if you're "selecting" an area on a template with, say, the magic wand, and inserting the image, you will need to use the "Paste-Into" command (from the edit menu, or simply ctrl+shift+v).
The two second drill: two windows, image & template, in PS.
Ctrl+A (selects the whole image)
Ctrl+C (copies to clipboard)
Click template so it's active.
W to grab the magic wand tool.
Click area to be selected on template.
Ctrl+Shift+V to "Paste Into" selection.
Ctrl+T to grab transformation tool.
Resize and rotate according to taste.
Take Coffee Break.
Repeat.
Once you're in a groove, all that should take about 5 minutes -- 4 minutes 55 seconds for the coffee break, and five seconds for the actual PS.
