gregory_c
I currently use Millers & not happy with prints, can anyone recommend another easy to use lab that prints flesh tones well ?
todd_k.
Strange, Millers is one of the best. Try Pounds in Dallas.
scott levine
Lustrecolor in Canton MA. 800-827-7101. FTP, Lablink Plus, and Designer album pages. They print on Kodak Endura Paper and also offer online services as well as drop shipping to your customers. My studio has used them for over 20 years and have always been satisfied. They even offer C-41 and Scanning.
stacy
I don't use them- but are you paying them to correct the prints or printing as is? If as-is maybe your monitor is not calibrated to their system? Just a thought- Most big labs have calibration guidelines...good luck!
khitrovg
G. I have been using American Color Imaging as well as Buckeye for years and I could not be happier. Greg
gregory_c
The images look good on my computer, shot jpeg, and the skin tones are pink espically their cheeks. I have a local pro lab, but they are slow, have to save images at low resolution, & proofs are .80c ea.
picturesque
I doubt that Millers is putting out really bad skin tones from digital prints--I could be wrong. They are one of the best in the business--so I've heard. I use Pounds myself, and the skin tones are nice, but I have calibrated my monitor and used their own calibration kit. I'd try to work with Millers more rather than bounce around trying to look for a lab that just happens to fit better with the way your monitor shows the files, especially if you haven't calibrated it. jim hall
I have to agree with Nadine & Todd on this. I really doubt if this is a Miller's thing. I use them or MPix (4x6s are cheaper) exclusively. Miller's is one of the best & if you're "qualified" to use them, great for you.
I really don't know your level of expertise in Photoshop, but try this link from SmugMug. It pertains to "getting the red out" of skin tones.
http://www.smugmug.com/help/skin-tone
As we are all aware. Digital just doesn't have the latitude that film does for the lab to help out much. You pretty well have to hit it "dead on" before you send the files.
Hope this helps.
Jim
colleendonovan
I don't think it's a Miller's thing either. I use Miller's exclusively and the flesh tones are always wonderful. have you asked them to redo any? Do you get them color corrected or not? They are so friendly I would suggest calling them up and asking about it. Every time I've had questions they've been more than helpful.
