pensacolaphoto
I scanned 15 prints on a flatbed scanner without any adjustments or modifications so that the results are not imporved upon. I used a lens shade with Hal and guessed the exposure with Ilford XP2 Super C- 41 B&W film. The photos were taken mostly in the historic district of Pensacola. I took my daughter Dana along to keep me company. pensacolaphoto
Some photos look as if they are overexposed, and this must be my fault since my slides came out great. I will post the color results on Monday since I need a film scanner to scan the Velvia slides.
david_m
Not a bad set of pictures. I liked the one of the church with the interesting architecture. But how come the building looks like its falling over backwards? The photos from the various different Halina users shows me that the scanning of the photos is a much greater variable as regards quality that the camera lens or film. It obviously makes a mockery of anyone commenting on the quality of a camera or lens based on looking at a scanned photo.
pensacolaphoto
David: Do you suggest that I adjust the scanned photos with Adobe and repost them? I don't mind doing that. I certainly did not intend to offend anybody.
pensacolaphoto
I don't know why the building looks like it is falling backward since the lens is not a wide angle lens. Anyways, I rescanned all photos.

Andrew in Austin
I know Hal pretty well and it definitely likes XP2. Does Hal still have a light leak? Best Regards - Andrew in Austin, TX
pensacolaphoto
Andrew: There may be a small leak since one photo had that effect (not posted here). It may be negligible though since I shot photos in strong sunlight and only one photo showed the light leak.
Rob_the_waste
What kind of scanner did you use? I have a Mustek which is ok for sending faxes, but the photos I've scanned have been done a great injustice.
pensacolaphoto
Rob: I used a Microtek Scanmaker 4800 flatbed scanner and did some slight adjustment on brightness and contrast with Adobe. The scanner cost me about $75 when new.
andrea_ingram
Nice group of pictures. How did you get such images from the lad! Hal never bothered to do that for me :-(
pensacolaphoto
Andrea: Did you use a lens hood with Hal?
jim_mcbride
Nice group of pictures which is a great compliment to you, Raid, considering Hal's age and condition. Come to think of it, all of your pictures are pretty good, regardless of the equipment/materials you are using. Thanks for the taking the time to share them with us. pensacolaphoto
Jim: Thanks for your kind words. I have heard badmouthing more than you think about my photography on the Leica Forum.
I have made it a practice each Sunday to take one of my daughters with me downtown Pensacola and let her walk aound and play while I walk beside her and take photos. Tomorrow I will do so again, and I will have to decide which of my many cameras to take along. The older, the better for me. Most likely, I will take with me a Bessa L with the 25mm lens and a Bessa T with the Zeiss 50mm/2 prewar lens. Both cameras are very light and I bet that together they weigh less than the Argus. Dustin McAmera
I'm impressed! I just checked the photo of Hal you uploaded in a recent post; I have a different Halina, the 35X (the Leica copy!) which I've had for six months without putting film in it. I must put that right, and see if I can do as well. I think I must get myself a daughter, too.
Dustin McAmera
Off-topic, but what is Miracle Camp? I'm thinking a site with no wasps or radios, and where the toilet doesn't smell.
pensacolaphoto
Pete: Thanks, but I can't help you with getting a daughter :-)
For balance, the remainder of the roll was overexposed, but this may have been my fault ... or Hal? nancy_bueler
Raid, these are great. I see Hal likes B&W film as much as colour. My favourite is Langley Cottage, but I also like the ones of your beautiful Dana. Great job! Nancy
grahams
Raid -Looks like you and Hal and your daughter all had a great time. Nice interesting set of shots from Hal, well done. The quality looks superb to me.
pensacolaphoto
Nancy and Graham: I'm glad that you like the photos. I was having doubts about Hal's capabilities at first, but not anymore.
