ShunCheung
Some of you may recall that Todd Peach was a moderator for this forum for a couple of years. He stepped down about a year ago because of his busy work schedule. I am very pleased to announce that Todd has decided to moderate this forum again, along with Lex Jenkins and me, effective immediately. Both Lex and I are busy in our personal lives. My day job is with a Silicon Valley start up and in my spare time, my preference is to take pictures and imporve my imaging skills first and discuss equipments second. Therefore, it is nice that Todd can help us again to share some of the load. Welcome back, Todd, although you never really left entirely.
ky2
Hey that's great, Shun! Are you going to join me a T. Fredricks on a photo-outing next week? ;)
vivek iyer
Silicon Valley start-up?! That explains a few things. Good luck to you, Shun! Yeah, it will be good to see Todd more here.
jim_gifford
Ahhh, I see Todd just couldn't stay away from the Big Bucks you photo.net moderators get. Well, there's nothing wrong with being a mercenary. To all the moderators: thank you for making this a pleasant corner of the web in which to discuss photography. Be well,
ShunCheung
Yeah, we pay Todd exactly nothing to be a moderator here. In fact, money wise, we are all at a loss since Lex, Todd and I all contribute $25 a year to photo.net. But just as I mentioned in the scanner thread, this biggest cost of scanning is time, not the hardware (the scanner itself). The same applies to moderating forums and answering questions. That is why we'd really appreciate it if people don't stir up problems unnecessarily. Yaron, all of my vacation time is spent on international trips and I am also getting training on weekends, sometimes work/computer related and sometimes photography related. But I am sure I'll find some time some day. Again, I am glad to have Todd back to share the work load and probably more importantly, his experience. lex_jenkins
To set the record straight, I now wear a photo.net patron icon thanks to John Schroeder who gave me a gift subscription, for which I am very grateful. I haven't been able to work full time since a car wreck a few years ago so money is usually pretty tight. If I have $25 to spare, which is pretty seldom, it usually goes to help out a family member. I've tried to earn my keep at photo.net by volunteering as a moderator. I didn't get any additional benefits. For example, photo.net patrons get additional space for displaying photos. No exceptions are made for non-patrons who happen to be moderators. No biggie because I haven't participated much in the critique requests. Usually I have mixed feelings about publicly acknowledging gifts. I'm afraid it might embarrass the givers. But John deserves the credit for my shiny new patron icon. (There's another significant photo.net member I'd like to acknowledge for incredible generosity but, again, I'm worried about making that person uncomfortable. However I am very grateful and reiterate my offer to be a porter, bodyguard, chauffeur and cook. ;> )
