www.flickr.comphotostmcc
Not sure if anyone can help, but any advice would be great. Ive decided to upgrade from a 300D to a 20D, and I was planning to sell the 300D this week, then wait a month to buy the 20D, until a bit after february when canon allegedly releases a replacement for the 20D. But, I am going to Texas the 3 of March, I beleive the day the the PMA Tradeshow ends. Clearly I need a camera for this trip, and the price for the 20D won't drop on the 3rd. I was just wondering, if I waited till I got back from Texas (Halfway through March) to sell the 300D, would the wanted price for the 300D drop alot, as I want to not lose alot of money. Thanks for any help.
henrik.ploug
I don't think the 300D will drop in price, since it is already an old model. Wait until the annoncement of the 20D replacement. You might even end up buying the replacement.
bill_muth
The 300D resale value might drop if the rumored entry-level 3000D is released. A quick check on eBay suggests that used 300D bodies are going for $450 or so. You might take a $75 or so hit by waiting. For that amount I'd probably keep it rather than being without a camera. www.flickr.comphotostmcc
Thanks for the Advice, I can handle a 75-100 loss, as long as it doesnt drop to 200 or 300.
roger pfister
I would be interested know what you think it will fetch. I checked Ebay US the other day for a friend and the recent (sold) selling price was arround $350 US. -- Roger
www.flickr.comphotostmcc
I was hoping of getting around 600 Can. dollars. The reason why its kind of pricy, is that I have a memory card, uv filter, a bag, and a remote switch 60-E3, not to mention all the cords, manuals, receipt and orignal box. fmueller
Roger - $350 sounded so cheap that I just checked myself - I'd buy one for that price ;-) I could only find one around that number (Item number: 7582604462), and it's defective (will not recognize the memory card). $600 seems to be a realistic going rate for a 300D right now. www.flickr.comphotostmcc
Do you think I should raise the price a bit due to the remote, filter, bag?
roger pfister
I just searched Ebay (US) again COMPLETED items Digial Cameras Digital Rebel -XT price range 300 to 450. Amoung the $450 US sold ones are three in the $350 US range (going back to 8 Jan). So I don't think (as seller) you can bank on more that this level of return. But is does look as if there are fewer around now. I guess all the 20D Xmass upgraders have been selling theirs. :) So the prices may go up - so maybe now is a good time to sell. ? To the OP (HI) IF I was selling I would split the lot into everything in the origian box. + a second lot of everything else. I would expect you to get nearfull value for the remote alone. :) But I am no expert. -- Roger
mcgarity
You should never sell things as a kit on Ebay. You almost always get more by selling each item individually. At least thats been my experience.
theoldmoose
As reference, I sold a 300D w/kit lens, spare battery, battery grip, IR remote, hand grip, and two 512 MB flash cards for USD$600 about two months ago. The 300D was about two years old (purchased on first day of US availability) and had 3000+ shots on it, but otherwise was in excellent condition. This was a private local sale, where buyer/seller know each other. For an Ebay-style "world's largest yard sale" type transaction, adjust downward accordingly.
