bob geisler
Having taken into account all your suggestions last week I was able to try them out this past weekend. In my opinion the pictures are 100 times better and I had no blurring of moving body parts. Lighting was not as good as I have seen in other gyms this year but it did not seem to be a problem. Pictures were taken with the following parameters:
Camera Model Canon EOS 20D with 85mm lense Tv( Shutter Speed ) Both 1/320 and 1/400 Av( Aperture Value ) 1.8 ISO Speed 3200
The second picture was taken by my 11 year old daughter who wanted to try the camera. She sat there a long time waiting for a good action shot and captured it at the perfect moment. Maybe I should just turn the camera over to her.

Thanks again for all your help. Let me know if you have any other suggestions to improve my pictures.

j_robinson2
http://www.printroom.com/pro/sportshots Done with a strobe as the gym lighting in many High Schools just doesn't work, even at 3200 with a 1.4 lens.
