c_phillips1
Help, I just got a used Rodenstock 135 lens on ebay sans LB, and I am home for the holiday's in Southeastern MI. A few last minute opportunites have come up for me to shoot while I am home. The Rodenstock does not fit in either of my LB's for my Optar 135 or Ektar 207. Anyone know where I can get a LB cut in the area or have any other tricks? I really want to use the lens the day after xmas. Happy Holday's and Thanks. tito sobrinho
C.Phillips, I would think it would be a very difficult task to get a machinist away from his family! Is the Ektar 127 or 203! Never heard of 207! Perhaps, I'm missing something. Which Rodenstock did you buy! The Optar 135 (Tessar) + an Ektar 203 (dialyte). Both are excellent, as I have both--- which I use on my 3x4 Graphic and on my 985 Horseman Technical. Wait until next week and get somebody to cut out the board for you. Remember, tomorrow is a holiday too. Merry Chistmas, Tito.
c_phillips1
Thanks Tito, I meant Extar 203, I was just off the plane and depressed that my new lens would not work. It is a newer Rodenstock. Happy Holiday's, C-
tito sobrinho
C Phillips. In the meantime, use the 203. It's an excellent lens following the same league as the Artar, and Ronar...dialyte. Excellent for close-ups as well as at infinity. My 203 is wonderful. Open the Yellow Pages and look for a Machine Shop. They will cut a hole in your metal lens board. Cheers, Tito. tony_walter
In a pinch try using a lens board cut from masonite ( I recycled an old clip board) - easier to machine than metal. I made one with my power drill and a wood borer (flat head type)bit . Works fine and has lasted 3 years so far.
jeff bishop
I second the Masonite. I'm using three homemade masonite boards and they work perfectly well. Just cut them to size, cut an angle on the bottom front (I use a pen-knife), and drill a hole in the center. Presto, you've got yourself a new lensboard. jeff bishop
Side note: I've got a Rodenstock 135mm f/4.5 in a Compur shutter. It's a beautiful lens. If yours is the same as mine, you are going to love it!
dave schlick
stiff cardboard will work in a pinch, you can stiffin it with another layer of cardboard inside glued (sandwitched) to the surface of the outer cardboard, but sized under the width x height of the lens board holder.. dave
