kimberlynoelphotography
I need a recommendation for an online lab/vendor which sells 4x6 and 4x8 photo thank you cards with envelopes. I would prefer to design my own card. Thanks!

david_schilling___chicago_
Just a quick thought....What I do is design the card in PS as a 4x6 but I leave about 1/3rd inch along the length to trim. That gives me a thank you card, save the date card, or holiday card that will fit in a standard envelope. Then, I have my local lab print them as regular 4x6 matte prints.<div></div>
discpad
If you do have these printed as photo cards, be sure to ask for no back-printing and paper without the rear watermark...
david_schilling___chicago_
Dan, Aside for a minor cosmetic difference, how would it make a difference? It's a photo print. The one above could be trimmed and placed in a small frame, left as is and framed, or more likely, placed on the refrigerator under a magnet. steve_gibbs1
If you are really creative (and brave) there are wholesale companies online that supply blank card stock in ANY paper style, embossed, foiled, color etc. You need a good inkjet and a lot of time and ink to experiment, but I have found a few cards that look fantastic. I have a giant sample book from C&J paper. http://www.cjpaper.com There is a lot of trial and error to find a good paper/ink combo, but you will have a very unique product to offer your customer. Just a thought... but theres plenty of easier ways to do it too.
scott_richards3
I do not have a recommendation but rather a suggestion. Never set type in PS as it will always look pixelated when printed. I wont get into the technical aspects of why but Always set your type in a page layout program like Quark and Indesign or set it in a vector based app like Illustrator and then put the image and type together in a layout program. there is a world of difference when printed and takes your standard flyer up a notch. colleendonovan
I use Miller's Lab, but you could use Mpix which is the same company. They have lots of templates or you can completely design you own. They aren't too expensive and they come with envelopes.
crashdog
I'll second the vote for WHCC. They also do press printed folded greeting cards (4x5 and 5x7) on either glossy, linnen, and water color stock. I have done birth announcements and thank you cards in 4x5 folded cards on the linnen and would say they look really nice. George
