andrew_schank
My D70 flash functions decided to stop working the other day. its a good thing I tried to use the flash and found this out before the warranty ran out. (I hardly ever do flash photography with that camera, and existing light functions were still working OK). Anyway, I dreaded sending the camera in for repair and being without it, but was pleasantly surprised to get it back in just 10 days from when I shipped it out to their new address in El Segundo, CA. Besides the needed repair (to the oscillation circuit and main PCB-anyone have any idea what that is?) they also adjusted the exposure and focus and cleaned the CCD. I kind of like that someone has actually checked the calibration on my camera by hand now. Just wanted to post a positive experience because it sometimes seems only bad experiences get posted on the web. Andy

ShunCheung
I had to use Nikon USA repair service at El Segundo twice this year. The fixed my new SB-800 under warranty and I accidentally dropped my 17-55 DX on the D2X inside a well padded Lowepro bag. The mount on the 17-55 DX was bent. They fixed that for $130. Both repairs took about 10 days to complete. I think they did a fine job and the repair cost was not too bad this time.

andrew_schank
It was still under warranty, so there was no charge. I am going to see if the slight adjustment they claimed to make to my focus helps me get more keepers with my 80-200 2.8 zoom wide open. My only complaint on the D70 is the camera needed a better AF. It makes no sense that my N90s focuses way better, and it is nearly 8 years older technology.
steve_muntz
The N90 series was one step down from the F4, and I know people switched from F4's to N90's because the AF was better back when these cameras were new. The D70 is a couple steps down the ladder from the D2X, but how the D200 is in this regard remains to be seen. Thanks for posting this - I get tired of only hearing about the horror stories. Good to know that "us regular guys" (as in non-NPS members) get treated well.
