I will be going to Amsteradm and Copenhagen in a week, and was wondering if anyone had some tips on where to go in each city to get some great photo opps. (I'm really into street photography, capturing culture, people etc.).
Also, I will be in Malmo Sweden, so if anyone has been there some similar tips would be appreciated!
Thanks

I just returned from Amsterdam last week. Many great photo opps along the main streets and canals. Was there for the Gay Pride parade on the canals on August 1st. 800,000 people were in attendance. A real wild scene.
I'd also recommend a visit to Zaanse Schanze, which is a restored (touristy) windmill village about 25 minutes by train outside Amsterdam. Here are a few pics from the trip:

Jasna, I recently returned from Copenhagen and found Nyhavn (of course) especially colorful and picturesque. Christiania is very interesting, although photos are strongly discouraged by those who live there. I found that with luck you can sneak some shots quickly in certain areas. (Documenting possible drug activity is the main concern of residents, I believe. You might find it more comfortable to be escorted by a guide on a walking tour.) Night-time photography at Tivoli Gardens can be rewarding, as there are lots of lights, lanterns, etc. Also, a canal and water tour is nice. If you're interested, check out my Denmark folder to get a few ideas. I hope this helps. Have a great time!!

In Copenhagen, Stroget is a great area for street photography. It's the longest outdoor pedestrian mall in Europe. Some of the side streets off Stroget will give you some good photo opportunities as well. Check out the Round Tower, for instance. Walk up and take a sweeping panaromic of the city. Walk west on Gammel Kongevej towards the little kommune of Frederiskberg. Frederiksberg Have (pronounced "hey yo", don't ask why) is a beautiful park near the Copenhagen Zoo where you will get some great photo opportunities as well. Or you can also take an S-tog (train) to Helsingor and visit the little town and castle there. Nyhavn is a tourist area, and yes, you will get some good shots there, but that's not all that Copenhagen has to offer.
Just a ten or fifteen minute walk from Nyhavn would be the official palace (across from the new Opera house). Further down would be the Little Mermaid, but not before stopping at the Kastelet near the Maersk offices on Bredgade.
Have fun! And yes, visit Tivoli at night, lots of great things to shoot there as well.
As for Amsterdam, my only advice is to walk around and have fun! Too many photo opportunities to mention. Be adventurous, take the side streets (watch out for pick pockets, though), take a canal tour, visit the Rijswik or Van Gogh Museums, et cetera. Don't take too much gear with you, it'll spoil the fun somewhat. Ditto shooting in Copenhagen. Travel light, a versatile zoom would be ideal, plus a fast 50mm or 105mm for portrait opportunities.
