D2x-WOW

Recommended Posts

Just got my D2x last night. Not sure who to thank for the suggestion

that I get one--but folks at PN, Rob G. and Nikonians all had a role

to play. I am blown away by the quality of the image and the build of

the camera. Nothing I have ever experienced has ever come close! B&H

got it to me in less than 3 days (I am in Idaho) but the longest days

of my life were the 90 minutes it took to charge the battry! By the

way, DO NOT settle for the web published prices at B&H (and other?)

sellers, call and ask for "your best price for X, Y and Z". D2x has a

"universal" street price of $4999.00, mine was $4599.00 with free 3

day shipping.

Peace!

You can thank me if you like. I dont know that I

recommended the Nikon D2X to you specifically but based on my

experience with the Nikon D2H I confidently recommend the D2X to

you rich folks. ;-)
Seriously the D2H is a fabulous camera but for those who dont

need the 8 fps (I dont) and can afford the D2X the increase

in image quality is surely worth the price of admission. Id

add a D2X if I could. If the file size is too big from the D2X

for your current camera you can limp along using medium image

size. Spend your money on the camera first, then the computer.
Nick, did you buy a MACK extended warranty? I asked my camera

repairman friend if I should buy one and his answer was, "How

long to plan on keeping the camera?" DSLR are expensive to

repair. Please consider a MACK warranty or similar and

congratulations!
Oh Load! Aint that the truth. We disadvantaged D2H owners

have some understanding of this painful time in the life of a new

DSLR owner.

Here are a couple of very useful links for new lithium-ion

battery owners...

To get the most life out of your battery packs keep them cool and

try to use them only down to 50% capacity as a general rule. They

are not like NiMH batteries so do read the links above.
All the best,
"WOW!" is what I said when I got my D70 a year and a half ago. "WOW, WOW!" is what I will say when I get my D200 next Spring. "WOW, WOW, WOW!" is what I will say when Nikon lets me down and has no D200 next Spring and I will be forced to buy a Canon 5D.
