luca_abbiento Posted September 11, 2005 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Hi, I have got a Rollei SL 66 and I have only a 6x6 back; but I prefer to use a rectangular format for my films; I'm looking for a 6x4,5 back but it is not easy to find it; so I asked to myself if it exists a mask 4,5x6 to put on the back or more simply on the finder. jean-louis llech Posted September 11, 2005 Share Posted September 11, 2005 Rollei made 120 or 220 magazines in 4.5x6 format. (2 models : one horizontal, another vertical) for SL66. The SL66SE had only one back in horizontal format.<br>4.5x6 masks were never produced for 6x6 film backs, because a mask <u>is not the solution</u>. Indeed, when you turn the crank, the film is advanced to the next view : 6 cm length, not 4.5 cm !<br>The last Polaroid back has the option of exposing two 4.5x6 cm pictures on one single sheet.<br>A 4.5x6 mask exists for the viewfinder when using the Polaroid back. tvih Posted September 11, 2005 Share Posted September 11, 2005 6x4.5 backs indeed seem very hard to come by - I haven't seen any on eBay personally. Even separately sold 6x6 backs aren't all that common. A 6x4.5 back would certainly be nice to have, for situations where the square isn't optimal.
